2009 Kentucky Middle School Football Association East vs. West All-Star Classic

KYMSFA announces the 2009 KYMSFA East vs. West All-State Football Classic – 2:00 p.m. Kick-Off, November 29, 2009 at Kentucky State University


The Kentucky Middle School Football Association (“KYMSFA”) has selected the top middle school football players in the Commonwealth to compete in the 1st East vs. West All-State Football Classic (“Classic”).  The Classic will be held during Thanksgiving weekend in Frankfort, Kentucky with the game being held on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Kentucky State University Football Stadium.


This is Kentucky’s first statewide East vs. West All-State game to be held for Kentucky’s middle school football players.  Players were selected from middle school football programs who are members of the KYMSFA.  Players chosen to the Kentucky Middle School Football State Championship All-State Team were automatically chosen to participate on the East or West team.  The remaining roster spots were filled from nominations submitted by coaches from member football programs.


Players on the East or West teams will commence practice on November 27th with a combine, speakers, presentation and banquet to be held on the 28th with the game scheduled to kick-off at Kentucky State University on Sunday, November 29th at 2:00 p.m.


100 of the best 8th grade football players from Ashland to Paducah have been selected to participate.  The East team roster includes players selected from Shelby West, Frankfort, Elkhorn, Lexington Catholic, Morgan County, Ashland-Verity, Summit View, Rockcastle County, Rowan County, Anderson County, Cumberland, Knox County, Gallatin County, Eminence, and Raceland.


The West team roster includes players selected from Meece (Somerset), Bluegrass, Bloomfield, Bowling Green, Trigg County, Lone Oak, Russellville, Corbin, Edmondson County, TK Stone, Spencer County, Glasgow, Calloway County, and Southern Pulaski.

The KYMSFA was formed to provide an organization where middle school football coaches, parents and school administrators can work together with mutual respect.  The KYMSFA provides rules for the conduct of the sport, a forum for communication, offers training and educational opportunities, coordinating a championship playoff structure and other benefits requested by the membership.  The KYMSFA is made up of member middle school football programs across the Commonwealth.  You can find more information about the KYMSFA by visiting the Kentucky Middle School Football Website at www.kymiddleschoolfootball.com.

2009 7th Grade Kentucky Middle School Football State Championship – Corbin Redhounds

 The Corbin Middle School 7th Grade Redhounds are the 2009 Kentucky Middle School Football State Champions having defeated the Lone Oak Middle School Purple Flash in the 2009 Kentucky Middle School Football State Championship game held at the Joseph K. Ford Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.  Congratulations to the Redhounds for an outstanding season.

2009 8th Grade Division I Kentucky Middle School Football State Championship – Bowling Green Purples

 

The Bowling Green Junior High 8th Grade Purples are the 2009 Kentucky Middle School Football 8th Grade Division I State Champions having defeated the Anderson County Middle School 8th Mustangs 36-6 in the Championship Game at the Joseph K. Ford Stadium hosted by Lexington Catholic High School.  The Purples are back to back State Champions having won the 7th Grade State Championship in 2008.     


We all witnessed a tremendous game and a tremendous environment which showcased the best in our young men and women.   The players, coaches, cheerleaders, parents and fans experienced a lifetime event of dedication, teamwork, effort, cooperation and great football.   Congratulations to everyone who participated and the future of middle school football in Kentucky.
